Lake Minnetonka

About Tonka Insider

Your free, local guide to life on Lake Minnetonka: what’s happening this week, where to eat, how to get on the water, and the people who make our lake communities great.

Lake Minnetonka is more than a lake. It’s 125 miles of shoreline tying together a dozen-plus communities, from the shops on Water Street in Excelsior to Lake Street in Wayzata to the bays around Mound and Spring Park. There’s always something going on, but it’s spread across dozens of venues, websites, and Facebook pages. That’s why we started Tonka Insider.

We bring it all into one place. Every week we update our events calendar with live music, trivia, festivals, and community happenings from around the lake, and every Wednesday we publish a new story about Lake Minnetonka life, history, and local spots worth knowing.

The Tonka Insider Story

Tonka Insider is run by Lake Minnetonka locals for Lake Minnetonka locals. We grew up on this lake, and we built this site to make it easier for neighbors and visitors to find out what’s happening around it.

We’re independent and community-focused. If something great is happening on the lake, we want people to know about it.
