Why We Love Cottagewood

The Cottagewood General Store first opened in 1895, selling bread, sugar and flour to summer visitors staying in cottages and hotels on Lake Minnetonka. When it was about to close in 1995, neighbors banded together and bought it.

Today the nonprofit Cottagewood Community Foundation runs the store, and it’s still the heart of the neighborhood. Stop in for ice cream, candy, breakfast sandwiches and Lake Minnetonka gifts.
