This small residential community is known for its beautiful natural setting. Only 20 minutes from Minneapolis, Woodland maintains a quiet, small community feel. Since it was settled in 1882 and incorporated in 1948, the residents of Woodland have guarded its trees, topography, and the lake. Lush, wooded areas and spontaneous vegetation growth are more common here than typical suburban landscaping. More than half of Woodland’s homes have access to Lake Minnetonka. Many residences are on large lots of two acres or more. A charming exception is the Groveland Assembly Ground, a 41-home, lakeside community that evolved from an early 1900s Methodist summer retreat campground: tent sites turned to summer cottages, to year-round homes.
